The Plan

To supply water for the draught-stricken people in Swaziland, Africa.

Currently, only 1 out of 10 households (10%) have access to clean drinking water in a region in Swaziland called Mhlosheni. Crossroads, through a partnership with the Christian relief agency World Vision, has been investing in community development projects and child sponsorship in Mhlosheni since 2005. After our last visit, it became apparent that the growing need in this region is water security. The average household is traveling 2 hours by foot for water (much of which is unclean). By providing funds to dig new wells and rehabilitate old wells, our goal will be to secure clean water for 4 out of 10 households (40%). The net increase from this initiative will positively impact 20,000+ people.

Matthew 25:37,40 “Then the righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink…?’ And the King will tell them, ‘I assure you, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’”

The Cost

The cost to secure clean drinking water for an additional 40% of those in the Mhlosheni community (16,000 people) will cost approximately $400,000. That translates to about $26 per person…a “ripple” that will change their lives dramatically.

The Bottom Line

The Ripple Effect really isn’t about debt reduction or soccer fields/gardens/fountains or providing wells in Africa. It’s about sharing living water with a thirsty world. That’s why we reduce debt, build buildings, dig wells, etc…so more and more people can be impacted by Christ’s love.
