The Plan
To “hydrate” the ministry of Urban Ventures, as we partner with them to make ripples with inner city youth. Specifically, we will partner with Urban Ventures to do the following:
- Re-sod and provide water for 2 worn/barren soccer fields, which give the staff an opening to minister to neighborhood kids. These fields provide a safe, athletic program for over 200 kids who cannot afford to pay…a program that provides faith messages and caring coaches who act as mentors to inner city youth.
- Resource Urban Ventures’ community garden. This garden provides fruits and vegetables at no cost to the neighborhood, and provides vegetables and herbs for their Kid’s Café (which gives after school meals to 350 kids/week).
- Refurbish the community garden’s water fountain. Currently the fountain, which contains unfiltered and recycled water, is used by the areas homeless population to wash their body, clothes, and brush their teeth. Our plan is to provide a clean-water line to the fountain providing the homeless a sanitary option for staying clean.
Proverbs 19:17 “If you help the poor, you are lending to the Lord—and he will repay you!”
The Cost
The cost to re-sod the soccer fields, provide free programming, resource the community garden for 3 years, and refurbish the water fountain comes to $120,000.
The Bottom Line
The Ripple Effect really isn’t about debt reduction or soccer fields/gardens/fountains or providing wells in Africa. It’s about sharing living water with a thirsty world. That’s why we reduce debt, build buildings, dig wells, etc…so more and more people can be impacted by Christ’s love.
